Lying Liars: Lilly Pharmaceuticals

Filed under: Uncategorized — drtone @ 9:26 am

“There are many theories about the cause of depression. One common theory is that depression is caused by an imbalance of naturally occurring substances in the brain and spinal cord.” –Lilly ad on WebMD

The above is exactly the sort of propaganda I have identified often as coming from the medical establishment. Despite the absence of evidence for the proposition that depression results from a “chemical imbalance,” Lilly continues to advertise on that basis, calling same a “theory,” which it is not in any formal sense. Because they are aware that the claim will not stand scrutiny, they replace “chemical imbalance” with “imbalance of naturally occurring substances.” No one will stop them because the medical world has so much invested, literally and figuratively, in the mind-is-physiology construct, as the link on WebMD demonstrates. The general public is all to ready to receive the lie, not only because it has been repeated so often, but because if “chemicals” or mysterious “substances” are responsible, I’m not. There is not a great distance from here to the concept of “bodily humors,” as this article inadvertently suggests.

  1. Pharmaceudical companies are in to their drugs to make a profit. They are not interested in the cheap cures, the ones that only cost us to look inside ourselves for answers. To do that you might need the assistance of a good friend or a psychologist, but you don’t need to spend the kind of money that drugs cost which is much more than the money that you pay to get them.
