The Truth is the Truth, no matter the package it comes in. It has long been recognized that the core principles of most spiritual traditions, as well those offered by the deepest philosophers and best teachers, converge on some main points, a Perennial Philosophy. For that reason,  insights gathered from disparate sources can inspire, and they can teach us practical means of self-actualization. Yesterday, a friend encouraged me to watch this interview with Steven Memel, a well-known voice coach who works in Los Angeles.  Although it’s fairly long–over an hour–it’s well worth watching, and you may gain a lot from watching a small portion. Both Memel’s teaching style and the content of his teaching are about going with the flow, and letting a “problem” be or provide its own solution. Early in the interview there is a discussion of the parallels between Memel’s approach and that of an effective psychotherapist.
